How did you get started in porn?
I hate this question because every time I answer it, I think "Wow I was a dumb shit back then." Basically a photographer told me porn was the way into import modeling because that's how this one girl who I went to high school with did it. A part of me knew it was fake I guess but hey, I loved sex (correction: I still love sex) and I would be getting paid to do it on camera. The guy charged me an agent's percentage though he only put my picture and some info on One Model Place. That's how I ended up shooting the 4 most hardcore scenes of my career. Can you help me get into the industry?
For girls: If you have any questions, I'd be more than willing to answer them for you. I had a rough start in porn and don't want that happening to anyone else. Just shoot me an email and I’ll be glad to answer your questions. Make sure that being in an adult movie is something you’re SURE you want to do. Shooting porn is one of those things you can't undo and you'll either love it or regret it for the rest of your life. Your videos will be on the internet FOREVER. I'm most definitely not trying to turn you away; I'm just looking out for you.
I highly recommend finding an agency. An agency’s job is to verify the legitimacy of the company looking to book you and assure that you get paid. Ask around the porn girls what agency they’re with and how they like it. If you go to an agency and they try to get you to sign a contract turning over power of attorney, don’t do it! Don’t put strangers in charge of your finances. Try to look for an agency that is licensed and bonded. Agencies will usually charge you 10-15% of what you make from your shoots. Make sure to save that % to pay your agency and 1/3 of the rest for taxes!
Never let anyone pressure you into shooting a scene you’re uncomfortable with or doing something you’ve never done in your personal life (eg., doing anal on camera, when you’ve NEVER had anal sex in your personal life). If you plan on staying in the industry for a while (which you might even though you don’t plan on it... it happens), my suggestion is to start out doing only solos, girl on girl or at most 1 guy, 1 girl (you). Then, as your career progresses, you can move on to doing 2 girls (you and one other girl) and 1 guy, 2 guys and you, anal, double penetration, etc. I don’t care what a director tells you, interracial (defined in the porn industry as: sex with a black guy if you're not black) is supposed to pay more.
If you have a boyfriend, expect him to find out. “Oh, but he doesn’t watch porn.” Um, yes he does, and if he *really* doesn’t, then his friends do and they’ll tell him. Your parents may or may not find out... depends if they watch porn, if their friends watch porn, if your nosy neighbors watch porn, if you make the news, etc.
For guys: Sorry, can’t really help you there. Most of the guys in porn have connections with directors/producers or girls who are already in the industry and no, I will not be your connection.
Peter North went the gay porn route but I wouldn't suggest that since many girls will not work with guys who've done gay porn. You can try perhaps contacting an agency and asking them for help but my best advice would be to start with smaller companies and work your way up.
